Story of Katya p1.5: The Chechnyan Assassin CampThat night I couldn’t sleep. The thought of someone threatening Anastasia because of me wouldn’t stop pestering me. The way he touched her… It took every ounce of my self-control to prevent me from getting up and killing Ivan in his sleep, but I knew I had to control myself. I took a deep breath and began to plot my revenge. Number 20 was one of the strongest in our class. He never lost any of his fights and his fighting style was resistant. I knew I could beat him though. Every animal has his or her weakness, if I could find his and focus on it, I could destroy him easily. The next morning was Saturday so the instructors were pretty lazy and hung-over from their off-duty activities. As a result, we were given an easy day outside sparring with each other. I stood a safe distance from Number twenty and secretly observed his fighting style. We were trained to learn our enemies and exploit their weakness before ultimately destroying them. I noticed that he learned the s
Story of Katya p1: The Chechnyan Assassin CampA strong blizzard shut my father and me in for the night. I didn’t mind though, I loved the snow. I sat staring out the window at the rushing flakes of snow with awe. Father wouldn’t allow me to go out and play because it was dangerous to be alone outside around this time and at my age. The Blackwoods district in Chechnya had recently become an area of high tension and fear because of sudden kidnappings and missing children. Rumor has it, that the government was abducting and training young animals to fight against the Siberians… But no one was able to figure out for sure what happened to them, and nobody ever tried. That night, felt stranger than any other though. There seemed to be a lot of activity outside, given the dull shines from oil lamps through the strong snowfall.
“Get away from the window, Katya” I heard my father whisper almost fearfully. I turned around and saw him staring out the windows himself. I glanced out the windows one last time and
Story of Kodiak Pt.1: The Conversion GeneA stirring woke Kodiak up… for the third time that night. The room was quiet, as usual, and judging by the amount of times he woke up that night it had to be a bit past midnight. He glanced beside him to see copper, his future mate, asleep beside him. Exhausted and sore, for some reason, he stretched and let out a big sigh. His den was comfortably cool and the outside temperature was not as bad either. The trickling from the nearby stream provided ambience for sleepless nights like this… but for some reason he just could not stay asleep this particular night. He glanced out of the window of his den to see the bright reddish-orange glow of Luna, Terra’s third and rarest moon. Luna only comes in view for two weeks every two years. Rumors and superstition have spread wildly about the appearance of Luna, but neither he nor the other members of his pack thought twice about it. He rolled over to make another attempt at getting back to sleep before he found himself in a mo
